HIKING
We are partnering with Muddy Boots Walking Tours to offer our guests an opportunity to explore the beautiful Kilkenny and the surrounding landscape with a guided walking tour hosted by experienced guide Mario MacRory, founder of Muddy Boots Walking Tours.
The guided walks will be an enjoyable activity for individual, couple, and family outings, for all ages and abilities. Mario is a Mountaineering Ireland-approved Mountain Skills Trainer and abides by the ‘Leave No Trace’ initiative.
Guests can choose to hike local routes in Kilkenny or trek further afield in Tipperary, Limerick, and Waterford. Routes take in treks on Brandon Hill, the Galtee Mountains, the Comeragh Mountains and Knockmealdown Mountains and Slievenamon.
There are beautiful views to be experienced as walkers take in the ancient mountains, black lakes, flora, and fauna of Ireland’s Ancient East. The routes are littered with historical sights, such as Slievenamon’s prehistoric monuments or Kilkenny’s Jerpoint Abbey and park. Mahon Waterfall and Kilfane Glen and Waterfall are set into the impressive landscape.
